The Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University and the Regional Directorate for Primary and Secondary Education of the Ionian Islands, are to organize a scientific and artistic event on 18 May 2018 in Corfu, the focal point of which shall be the piano beyond its usual context. The event is aimed at teachers of music of Primary and Secondary level, music students, musicians and music fans.

12.30-14.30: Seminar

Nikos Ordoulidis, pianist and musicologist, is to present certain cases from historical discography which come from a wide geographical span (Romania, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Algeria, Tunisia et al.), where we see the piano in a different role to that of the classical West. Reproduction of audio material from the regions in question shall be listened to and apart from issues of musical aesthetic; various cultural aspects linked to the musical products shall be examined.

14.30-15.30: Recital

Nikos Ordoulidis is to present a recital for piano, which shall include adaptations of popular songs from the Greek-speaking repertoire.
